I want to become a neurosurgeon and bioengineer. The brain fascinates me, and I want to use technology, especially AI, to help doctors understand it better and catch problems earlier. I got my start in real lab work at Hood College, where I worked with DNA, and I'm building my skills in math, engineering, and Python. I'm a self-directed learner who likes a challenge, and I'm always looking for the next thing to figure out.
DNA Dominators
Hood College Genetics and Bioscience Summer Program
Extracted, sequenced, and mapped traits in cat DNA. Cloned and mutated genes with fluorescent reporters.
Open to internships
I'm looking for an internship in neuroscience research, biomedical engineering, or medical AI, where I can learn from people in the field and help with real work.

Research
DNA Dominators Genetics and Bioscience Program
Hood College, Frederick, Maryland
In this program I did hands-on lab work in molecular and synthetic biology. I extracted DNA, used gel electrophoresis to see DNA fragments, and sequenced and analyzed cat DNA to map genetic traits. I also cloned and mutated DNA using fluorescent reporters, and I recorded my results in a research database. The program taught me how scientists collect and keep track of data, which is something I want to use in neuroscience and medicine.
- Molecular cloning: cloned and mutated DNA using fluorescent reporters that make genetic changes visible.
- DNA extraction and gel electrophoresis: extracted DNA and visualized the fragments.
- Sequencing and analysis: sequenced and analyzed cat DNA to map genetic traits.
- Data recording: logged experiment results in a research database.
Lab skills
Technical skills
I use these tools efficiently to organize information, build visuals, and solve problems.
Personal strengths
I'm studying AP Precalculus on my own, outside of a class, and preparing to take the exam.
I choose challenging classes, including honors and AP, and I stick with them.
I keep up with a heavy course load and my own self-study at the same time.
I use step-by-step thinking in math, engineering design, and lab work.
I record my results carefully so experiments can be repeated and checked.
Future projects and interests
I want to combine what I learn in the lab and in Python with AI to work on problems in neuroscience. One idea is to use public brain scan or brain signal datasets to look for patterns that could help doctors catch problems earlier. Long term, I want to be a neurosurgeon who also builds tools that make diagnosis and surgery safer and more accurate.
- Use Python and AI tools to explore public neuroscience datasets.
- Learn more about how the brain works through neuroscience research.
- Find internships in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or medical AI where I can contribute to real work and learn from experts.
